Beatnik Castle to Perform free show for Amnesty International at USF this Friday, August 29 at 11:00 am -3:00pm!

August 20, 2009 (Tampa, F.L.) – Amnesty International will be sponsoring the first Bay Area Human Rights Fashion Show at the University of South Florida’s newly built Marshall Center Amphitheater this Friday, August 28 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Admission is free and open to the public.

This dynamic and inspirational event will – through fashion, storytelling, poetry and music and poetry, will reflect three of Amnesty International’s high profile advocacy campaigns: The death penalty, individuals at risk, and human trafficking. This major event will feature the talented performances of FACES modeling troupe and various local area artists and musicians, including psychedelic dance/pop duo Beatnik Castle, which consists of Grammy-nominated producer Quincy B. Scovill and US Army Veteran singer/songwriter Francillia.  Beatnik Castle’s current single, “Will U B Mine?” is currently being played on over 100 radio stations across the country as well as Europe, Australia, and South America.

Amnesty International is a Nobel Peace Prize-winning grassroots organization with more than 2.2 million supporters, activists and volunteers in more than 150 countries who campaign for human rights worldwide. The organization investigates and subsequently exposes abuses, educates and mobilizes the public and works to protect people wherever justice, freedom, truth and dignity are denied or prohibited.

In collaboration with social groups such as Group 240, HEART, M.E.T.A./M.A.S.A., Youth for human rights, and The Farm Workers Association of Florida)  Amnesty International plans to create a heightened awareness and bridge the gap among local advocacy groups and the Bay Area community. Furthermore, Amnesty assists in community development and outreach as well as enhancing its profile as a grassroots organization.
